Volume:1.5 to 2 qts. over stock

Dimensions: are in this pdf file. Always check your vehicle to verify transmission and clearance as PML does have a restocking fee.

Number of Bolts: 22

This heavy duty transmission oil pan fits the Nissan RE5R05A transmission and should clear the frame cross members on Frontier, Pathfinder, Equator and similar vehicles.

This deep sump transmission pan features:

  • Frame clearance
  • Fins, aluminum construction and more capacity for cooling
  • A drain hole and magnetic plug for easier maintenance
  • Thick walls and gasket flange to add strength to the transmission case and provide a secure seal

PML designed this pan for 2005 and newer Nissan Frontier trucks and Pathfinder. It should also fit Xterra, Equator, and similar vehicles. Some 2004 Pathfinders also have the RE5RO5A transmission. Applications:

  • Frontier, 2005 and newer
  • Pathfinder, 2004 to 2012, with V8 5.6 or V6 4.0
  • Xterra, 2005 and newer
  • Suzuki Equator, 2009 and newer (one bolt hole location off, see installation below)

Note to Xterra Owners: If you have an Xterra, we think this pan will fit but we have not had any installations. Please call us if you have an Xterra and wish to use this transmission pan.

We have two other pans for the Nissan RE5R05A transmission, a deep pan that is 3.5 quarts over stock and a low profile pan for 350Z and Infiniti vehicles and trucks needing clearance.

PML Transmission Pan Compared to Nissan Stock Pan

Image provides approximate dimensions of stock pan and PML pan.

This pan is about four inches deep, which, as far as we know, is too deep to work with skid plates. The depth provides the extra capacity.

We would like to hear from folks that have skid plates and are also interested in this pan or similar. Cody, we already have your information.

Filter and Gasket Information

The filter on the RE5R05A is a screen, and it bolts on to the valve body of the transmission so no filter supports or extensions are needed.

This transmission pan works with stock gaskets. These are usually about $25 from your local Nissan dealer.

Drain

Image shows the driver's side of the pan where the drain is located.

PML includes a magnetic drain plug and all mounting bolts with the pan.

Temperature Sensor Information

The pan has a location on the passenger's side that can be drilled and tapped for a temperature sending unit. If you would like PML to machine the pan for an aftermarket temperature sensor, the machining charge is $40 and this option must be ordered over the phone. The boss can accommodate 1/8 to 1/2 NPT (please let us know the size when you call to order).

Installations

2007 Frontier Long Bed with PML Transmission Pan

ET Wheels in San Leandro California installed this PML transmission pan on a 2007 Frontier 4.0 V6 Long Bed 4 door with the 5 speed Nissan RE5RO5A transmission. Our thanks to ET Wheels for installing a PML pan.

The installation was a straight forward bolt on replacement although they found the right rear corner bolt hard to access. With the PML pan, the added 1 ¾ to 2 quarts more fluid.

2007 Frontier with PML Transmission Pan

Michael in Florida installed this PML transmission pan on a 2007 Frontier 4.0 V6 with the 5 speed Nissan RE5RO5A transmission. He was kind enough to document the installation including the tools he needed. See this PDF file on Installation of PML Transmission Pan on Nissan Frontier.

Our thanks to Michael for his pictures and documentation.

PML Transmission Pan on a 2005 Pathfinder

Installation of a PML pan on a 2005 Pathfinder. Paul decided he wanted a temperature sending unit. He drilled and tapped the boss on the passenger's side of the pan himself. In addition to pictures Paul gave us these comments:

  • The rear transmission supports were no problem and the pan was a simple bolt-on project.
  • He added 5 quarts of Nissan J transmission fluid first then an additional 2 quarts a little at a time to reach the correct level.

Our thanks to Paul for the pictures and feedback.

2011 Suzuki Equator with PML Transmission Pan

This PML pan was installed on a 2011 Suzuki Equator. The pan fit well except for one bolt hole on the rear passenger side corner. The pan hole is about ½ inch to the front and the flanges did not completely line up. Since this pan has plenty of bolts, leaving this bolt off is no problem and the pan sealed great (no leaks at all).

On the whole, the pan fit great, provided plenty of clearance, and added 1.6 quarts of extra capacity.
